Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
